We did it. We showed the world that decency and common sense will still win out in Alabama. We showed that hard work behind a good candidate will win elections for Democrats in Alabama.
In Shelby County we really made a statement. Last August there were about 5,000 Democrats who voted in the Shelby County primary which was a 20% turnout. We had hoped to double that turnout to 10,000 Democrats.
Guess how many people voted yesterday Democrat for Doug Jones – 27,251. Now many of these may have been Republican’s who saw Roy Moore for who he is. But my guess is that the Democratic turnout in Shelby County was 90% or more.
